Actor Muneeb Butt publicly expressed disappointment over guests wasting food at a recent family wedding, urging guests to be more mindful. In a video posted to his social media on Sunday, Muneeb called out attendees at his brother-in-law's wedding for piling food on their plates and leaving it uneaten.
"It's very important to point out one thing," he said in the video. "I've gone to the kitchen thrice now and I'm realising that I've never been to a wedding where people don't waste food. All of this food has been wasted. Coming to a wedding doesn't mean that you put all the food you want on your plate and then only eat half of it."
Muneeb's remarks came from behind the scenes of the event, where he appeared visibly disturbed by the amount of discarded food. His message served as a direct critique of the common practice of over-serving at large social gatherings, especially weddings.
The event in question was the wedding of his brother-in-law, Maaz Khan, held in Karachi over the weekend. The celebration was attended by several celebrities and featured elaborate decor, traditional festivities, and a wide buffet-style dinner. Videos and photos from the wedding circulated on social media, showing scenes of dancing, music, and stunning formal attires.
Fans were quick to react to Muneeb's statement online. Many praised his honesty, with one user writing, "This is really important awareness. No matter who the guests are, food shouldn't be wasted at anyone's wedding, not even at home. Put only as much food on your plates as you can eat." Another commented, "Agreed. People fill up their plates like they are being served food for the last time." Some users also called for caterers to implement better portion control. A few disagreed, pointing out that managing food at large gatherings is challenging, and the responsibility shouldn't fall on guests alone.
