HBL PSL X: Peshawar Zalmi cruise past Multan Sultans with 7-wicket win
Peshawar Zalmi delivered a dominant all-round performance to defeat Multan Sultans by 7 wickets in their HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 clash on Monday, chasing down a modest 109-run target in just 13 overs.
Multan Sultans, who won the toss and opted to bat first, suffered a dramatic collapse and were bowled out for 108 in 19.1 overs. Despite early contributions from Mohammad Rizwan (17 off 14) and Tayyab Tahir (22 off 18), the batting order faltered with no substantial partnerships.
Shai Hope top-scored with 23, but the middle and lower order offered little resistance. Zalmi’s bowlers capitalised effectively, with Ahmed Daniyal taking 3 for 17 and Maaz Sadaqat claiming 2 for 12. Luke Wood also chipped in with 2 wickets, dismantling any hopes of a Multan recovery.
In response, Zalmi opener Saim Ayub set the tone with a commanding 49 off 33 balls, smashing four boundaries and three sixes. Despite the early loss of Mitchell Owen and a brief wobble with the dismissal of captain Babar Azam (8 off 13), Max Bryant took control with an unbeaten 38 from just 20 deliveries, sealing the chase with ease.
Zalmi reached the target in just 13 overs, finishing at 110 for 3, with Mohammad Haris unbeaten on 7 at the other end.
