KARACHI:

A daring armed robbery took place in the upscale DHA area of the metropolitan city on Saturday night, raising concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation.

As per reports, three suspected armed muggers riding motorcycles targeted a mobile phone shop near Chhota Bukhari in DHA Phase 6, within the jurisdiction of PS Darakhshan.

Before storming the shop, the robbers forcibly disarmed a security guard stationed outside.

CCTV footage secured from the scene shows the suspects engaging in a scuffle with the guard, eventually snatching his weapon.

The faces of the assailants are visible in the video, which is now in police possession. Another surveillance video captures the moment the robbers, with their faces partially covered, entered the shop and held staff at gunpoint.

The suspects looted hundreds of thousands of rupees in cash as well as several high-end mobile phones before fleeing the scene.

When contacted, SHO Shahid Taj confirmed that no FIR had been filed as of Sunday evening. "The shop owner had assured us that he would visit the police station to lodge a formal complaint, but he has not come forward yet," said SHO Taj.

He added that police are reviewing the CCTV footage and are confident that the suspects will be identified and apprehended soon.
