An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Saturday extended the pre-arrest bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA Hafiz Farhat Abbas until May 26 in multiple cases linked to the May 9 riots, including the high-profile Jinnah House arson case.
During the hearing, the prosecution requested additional time to present the case records, prompting the ATC judge to adjourn further proceedings until the next date.
Farhat Abbas has filed pre-arrest bail petitions in four separate cases registered against him for his alleged involvement in creating law and order disturbances, inciting anarchy, arson attacks, and setting fire to public and military properties, including Jinnah House and Askari Tower.
Meanwhile, the ATC also granted pre-arrest bail to PTI leader Alia Hamza in a case related to a rally held on February 8, during which participants allegedly chanted anti-state slogans and clashed with police.
The FIR, initially registered the same day, had anti-terrorism charges added 80 days later, raising questions about the delayed legal escalation.
The case names Alia Hamza, Sanam Javed, and others as accused in organizing the protest outside Aiwan-e-Adl, where they reportedly blocked the road and resisted law enforcement efforts.
