A vehicle belonging to Joaquin Phoenix was reported stolen on Monday afternoon outside the actor’s Los Angeles-area residence, TMZ reported.
According to law enforcement sources, Phoenix was not home at the time of the incident.
An employee working at the property discovered that the actor’s 2022 Volvo SUV, valued at approximately $60,000, was missing from where it had been parked. The employee contacted the Los Angeles Police Department and filed a formal stolen vehicle report.
Police confirmed they are actively investigating the case, though no arrests have been made as of now. The investigation remains ongoing and details about potential suspects or surveillance footage have not been released.
Phoenix, who is known for maintaining a low public profile, has kept a relatively quiet schedule this year. He most recently appeared in the 2024 film Joker: Folie à Deux, reprising his role as Arthur Fleck, also known as The Joker.
The film, a follow-up to his 2019 portrayal in The Joker, also starred Lady Gaga as Harleen Quinzel.
