
A tourist boat capsized in Khanpur Dam during the storm that hit Haripur, causing six people to drown. However, According to Khanpur DSP, five individuals were rescued, while the search for one missing person is still ongoing. Rescue efforts are being hindered by the darkness. Local clerics and divers assisted in rescuing the tourists, but one young man remains missing.
Upon receiving news of the incident, Khanpur Assistant Commissioner Dr Tazeen Zafar and SDPO Khanpur Muhammad Arif arrived at the scene with a large police force and Rescue 1122 teams. The rescue operation to locate the missing youth is ongoing, though adverse weather and strong winds are creating difficulties. The overturned boat has been brought to shore.
Meanwhile, two people lost their lives and four others, including a woman, were injured in separate incidents. The first incident occurred in the village of Sarhadana near Khanpur, where a house wall collapsed due to the storm.
Three childrenAbdur Rehman, Taha, and Bilalbelonging to Muhammad Imran and Azhar, were trapped under the debris. Rescue 1122 Khanpur responded promptly, shifting the injured to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Khanpur. Unfortunately, the child named Abdur Rehman succumbed to his injuries.
