The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched a new mobile application that will allow citizens to update key life events—such as births, deaths, and changes in marital status—without leaving their homes, Express News reported.

The announcement was made during the second meeting of the National Registration and Biometric Policy Framework Implementation Committee, hosted by NADRA. The session was attended by representatives from multiple federal ministries, regulatory authorities, and provincial departments.

NADRA Chairman Lt Gen (Retd) Muhammad Munir Afsar briefed participants on the improvements being made to the national registration system and shared details of the newly developed app.

“The mobile application enables citizens to register life events online from their homes. Initially, the app will be rolled out in Punjab,” he said. “Biometric verification facilities are also being extended to all union councils across the province to support the new system.”

He added that the initiative would bring a “revolutionary improvement” in service delivery and help create a more accurate national database. A live demonstration of the app was presented to officials from the Local Government Department.

In Islamabad, NADRA is also establishing one-window counters at union councils to streamline services.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) chairman also briefed the meeting on ongoing efforts to finalise the National Biometric Policy.
