Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has said that credible intelligence reports suggest India is planning military action against Pakistan within the next 24 to 36 hours, using the recent Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) as a pretext.
In a video statement posted late on Tuesday, he said that India is basing its alleged plans on "baseless and self-fabricated accusations" related to the Pahalgam incident, in which 26 people were killed.
“There is verified intelligence indicating that India intends to carry out a military operation against Pakistan. India is using the Pahalgam incident as justification for aggression,” said the minister.
He warned that any form of aggression by India would be met with a decisive and strong response. “Pakistan will hold India fully responsible for the potentially disastrous consequences in the region,” he added.
Rejecting India's narrative, the minister stated that Pakistan dismisses New Delhi’s self-imposed role as “plaintiff, judge, and executioner” in regional matters. He reiterated that Pakistan has been a victim of terrorism for over two decades and condemned terrorism in all its forms globally.
Tarar said Pakistan had acted as a responsible state following the Pahalgam incident by offering an independent and neutral investigation to uncover the facts and motives behind the attack. “Unfortunately, India chose the path of irrationality and confrontation,” he remarked.
He further asserted that India's refusal to accept an impartial investigation exposes its underlying motives. “Using such attacks to pursue political objectives is both unfortunate and condemnable,” he said.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s stance, he concluded by saying, “Any military adventurism from India will receive a certain and decisive response. The international community must recognise that responsibility for any catastrophic escalation will rest solely with India. The people of Pakistan will defend their sovereignty and territorial integrity at all costs.”
