Beyoncé kicks off ‘Cowboy Carter’ tour joined by daughters Blue Ivy and Rumi amid struggles to sell out stadiums
Beyoncé launched her highly anticipated Cowboy Carter Tour on 28 April at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, marking the start of a 32-date run across the U.S. and Europe. Despite her continued chart success, reports indicate the singer has faced slower-than-expected ticket sales, with thousands of seats still available just hours before showtime according to Ticketmaster.
The show featured touching moments as Beyoncé welcomed her daughters, Blue Ivy, 13, and Rumi, 7, onto the stage. Blue Ivy performed during "America Has a Problem," while Rumi made her live performance debut during "Protector," joining her mother and sister on stage.
Cowboy Carter, released in March 2024, topped the Billboard 200 chart and earned Beyoncé her first Album of the Year win at the 2025 Grammy Awards, as well as Best Country Album. However, her tour has been hampered by high resale prices and concerns over public perception following controversies involving Jay-Z’s former business associations.
Beyoncé’s previous Renaissance World Tour pulled in over $579 million, but Cowboy Carter’s initial sales have not matched that record-breaking success.
The opening night setlist included a wide range of tracks from the new album and Beyoncé’s classic hits. Highlights included a medley of “Sweet Honey Buckiin',” “Summer Renaissance,” and “Pure/Honey,” alongside performances of fan favourites like “Formation” and “Crazy in Love.”
