Two Shaheen Force personnel - identified as Constables Asad and Saqib - have allegedly tortured a motorcycle-riding student, Adyan Siraj son of Sirajuddin, on University Road on the pretext of snap-checking. The cops reportedly roughed him up for no reason and coerced him into making a video confession wielding a gun that he was a dacoit.
The Shaheen Force personnel also levelled blatant allegations against the student and threatened to kill him in a police encounter, according to the victim. They snatched the student's wallet containing Rs5,000 and his national identity card. They also demanded Rs200,000 from the victim and threatened to kill him if he did not pay.
Reportedly, the student told the cops that his father is also a retired employee of the Police Department, but they did not listen and took the student on a motorcycle to a nursery adjacent to Aziz Bhatti Park, passing under the NIPA bridge.
The cop also allegedly took photos of both sides of student's national identity card and kept checking his mobile phone. Later, they took the victim to a deserted place behind the Civic Centre and threatened to kill him in staged encounter.
The student asked the cops to talk to his father. After talking to the student's father, the cops allowed him to leave. They warned that if he complains to anyone, they have his name and address and they will not spare him.
Acting SP Gulshan Iqbal Ahmed Iqbal Memon took notice of the incident and suspended both Shaheen Force officials and ordered the SDP Gulshan Iqbal to conduct an inquiry against them. SP Ahmed Iqbal Memon said that if the Shaheen Force officials are found guilty, departmental action will be taken against them.
