
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) Haroon Akhtar Khan, on Saturday, visited the site of Suzuki Company Limited's proposed biogas plant at Manga Mandi, Lahore, where he was warmly received by Hiroshi Kawamura, Managing Director of Suzuki Company Limited Pakistan.
According to a press statement, during the visit, the SAPM praised Suzuki's initiative to establish a biogas plant for vehicles, describing it as a vital step toward Pakistan's clean energy future. He emphasised that biogas represents the future for Pakistan, highlighting its potential to significantly reduce the country's dependence on costly oil and LNG imports.
The statement noted that Khan reiterated the prime minister's Uraan Vision, which focuses firmly on promoting clean and sustainable energy sources. He underlined that projects like Suzuki's biogas plant could deliver substantial economic benefits to local farmers while simultaneously protecting the environment.
Khan directed the concerned stakeholders to ensure the immediate implementation of the biogas plant project, stressing that it was both environmentally friendly and economically advantageous.
Representatives from Suzuki explained that vehicles could still operate on petrol where biogas is unavailable. Khan assured that the government fully supports initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions and transitioning toward greener energy solutions.
