PESHAWAR:

The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has sought a detailed report from the relevant committee within a month regarding a petition filed by the Regi Lalma Housing Scheme's affectees.

During the hearing of the petition filed by Sirajul Haq Yousafzai and others, Justices Muhammad Naeem Anwar and Kamran Hayat were informed by the petitioners' lawyer Ayaz Khan Advocate that the victims had been waiting for 32 years to take possession of the plots allotted to them in 1994 in the Regi Lalma Housing Scheme.

He said that previous court decisions and jirgas had also failed to resolve the issue and the petitioners were seeking immediate possession of their plots after three decades of delay.

The court was also informed that a committee headed by the Commissioner Peshawar Division had been formed to look into the matter and resolve the issue effectively.

However, the committee had failed to present its report during the previous hearing.

The court directed it to submit its report within a month and adjourned the hearing.
