Four personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC) were martyred and three others injured in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion in the Margate area on the outskirts of Quetta, police said on Friday.

The injured were transported to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Quetta for treatment.

A heavy police presence was deployed to the site following the explosion, while bomb disposal personnel were called in to secure the area and check for any further threats.

The martyred FC personnel were identified as Subedar Shahzad Amin, Naib Subedar Abbas, Sepoy Khalil, and Sepoy Zahid. The injured include Lance Naik Zafar, Lines Naik Farooq, and Sepoy Khurram Saleem.

Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to locate those responsible for the attack.

Pakistan was recently ranked second in the Global Terrorism Index 2025, with the number of terror-related deaths increasing by 45% over the past year to 1,081.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a "heinous conspiracy" aimed at destabilising the country. He expressed condolences to the families of the martyred personnel and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured.

“These brave sons of the soil have made the ultimate sacrifice for peace in Balochistan. Their heroism and commitment will always be remembered with pride and gratitude,” the minister said.
