Pakistan Railways has shut down the Pakistan Railways Advisory and Consultancy Service (PRACS), retrenching 280 employees amid a severe financial crunch.
The move sparked strong backlash from the affected staff, who staged a protest against the decision. They raised slogans against the railway administration, blocked the road, and announced plans to challenge the closure in court.
Railway officials sealed the PRACS offices and transferred valuable items such as computers, furniture and other equipment into two large rooms. Earlier, 80 employees were terminated on April 6.
