KARACHI:

In a development that adds a new dimension to street crime in the metropolis, police have arrested a man and his teenage daughter for their alleged involvement in motorcycle thefts in New Karachi. Police also claimed that they have recovered weapons, stolen motorcycles, and narcotics from their possession.

Police arrested Bilal and 16-year-old Shumaila. SHO New Karachi told The Express Tribune that the duo was taken into custody after they allegedly snatched a bike at gunpoint from a man named Noman in Sector 11-L, New Karachi, on April 14. The case was registered at PS New Karachi.

"The face of the accused Bilal is clearly identifiable in the CCTV footage," the SHO said, adding that Bilal had involved his teenage daughter in the crimes to evade suspicion and arrest. Investigation revealed that Bilal's brother-in-law, Faheem, was also involved in street crimes and is currently on the run. Bilal has confessed to committing four crimes alongside his daughter.
