Infant killed, seven injured as water tanker crushes minivan

An eighteen-month-old baby died and seven including six women were injured in a collision between a water tanker and a high-roof minivan near Al-Jannat wedding hall in Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Steel Town.

Police and rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the victims to the Jinnah Hospital. The minor baby who died in the accident was identified as Sahil while the injured were identified as Asif, Bakhtawar, Erum, Aziza, Kamala, Sakina and Naeema. Police seized the water tanker and the vehicle involved in the accident and detained the drivers.

The accident is said to have occurred due to speeding. Police are investigating.

Separately, two youngsters were injured when a pickup collided with a motorcycle in Orangi Town. Two youths, 18-year-old Ismail and 17-year-old Abdul Rahim, were severely injured.

In another incident, 30-year-old biker, Abdul Samad, was severely injured after being hit by a truck near the Lakhi Chuhar Toll Plaza.
