Sparks from electric wires near standing crop cause fires

SHARAQPUR:

Nearly ready to harvest wheat crop spread over an area of 252 acres was reduced to ash in different areas of Sharqpur due to fire.

On the first day, a fire in Char Chak Risala burned wheat crops over 100 acres.

On the second day, in the village of Esan Thathi Bhatian, 150 acres of crop were destroyed. On the third day, in Naazir Labana village, 2 acres of wheat crop were reduced to ashes due to the fire.

In the localities of Char Chak Risala and Esan, a fire engulfed wheat crops spread over 250 acres. According to Muhammad Afzal, a farmer from Char Chak Risala, sparks were generated when electric wires near the standing wheat crop collided, which ignited the crop.

The fire spread rapidly within no time and consumed dozens of acres of ready-to- harvest wheat.

Villagers made efforts to extinguish the fire on their own. Later, Rescue 1122 teams arrived at the scene, and with their assistance, the locals managed to bring the fire under control.

Muhammad Afzal reported that nearly 100 acres of wheat crops were burned to ashes, affecting around 12 farmers.

Similarly, in the village of Esan, affected farmers including Nasir son of Rafiq, a resident of Thathi Bhatian, Iqbal son of Muhammad Hussain, resident of Thathi Bhatian, Saadat son of Anwar, Ghafoor Arain, Shehzad, Shabbir, Javed, Akhtar, Waqar, Aslam and others reported that the fire broke out for unknown reasons, which spread rapidly and destroyed wheat crops spread over 150 acres.
