QUETTA:

Five suspected terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based joint operation conducted by security forces and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in the Dubbar mountains area of Balochistan's Duki district.

According to CTD officials, the operation was launched after credible intelligence was received regarding the presence of armed terrorists in the region. During an exchange of fire, five suspects were killed on the spot.

The bodies were later shifted to Civil Hospital Duki for medico-legal formalities and then transported to Civil Hospital Quetta via ambulance for further procedures. The identities of the deceased have yet to be confirmed and an investigation is underway to determine their possible links to banned outfits.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti lauded the CTD and security forces for their swift action in neutralising the threat. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to protecting the lives and property of citizens, stating that no compromise would be made on the province's peace and security.

Security in and around the area has been tightened following the operation as authorities continue efforts to curb militancy in the region.
