Youth shot dead over land dispute

A youth was killed in a firing incident over a land dispute in Lakot, a suburb of Murree, adjacent to the expressway, while two brothers were seriously injured.

The deceased Ghafar Abbasi was the only son of his parents, while the injured include 33-year-old Tauseef, son of Zahoor, and 36-year-old, Saghir son of Zahoor. The accused fled the scene after the firing.

The dead body of the deceased was shifted to Murree Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for postmortem, while the two brothers were shifted to Rawalpindi in a seriously injured condition after being provided with initial medical aid. On receiving the information, teams of Rescue 1122 and the police arrived. After the incident, the atmosphere in the area has become mournful and the people are deeply saddened.

Citizens say that even a peaceful area like Murree is becoming unsafe. Murder, arms and drug trafficking have become common in the area and such incidents are happening every day.
