Hayden Christensen confirms Anakin Skywalker return in Ahsoka season 2 at Star Wars Celebration 2025

Hayden Christensen will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka season 2.

Hayden Christensen has confirmed that he will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker in the second season of Ahsoka. The announcement came during a panel at the Star Wars Celebration, where Christensen shared his excitement about revisiting the character during the Clone Wars era. “It’s a very compelling period in Anakin’s life that we never really got to see in live-action,” said Christensen. “I was really excited to do in live-action what George [Lucas] and I used to talk about while shooting Episode III.”

While Christensen didn’t reveal specifics about Anakin’s role, filming for the new eight-episode season is set to begin next week. Alongside his return, several familiar faces will be back, including Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, and Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren. Lars Mikkelsen also reprises his role as Grand Admiral Thrawn, who appears to be leading his forces toward Dathomir.

Fans at the Celebration panel were treated to a unique concept art teaser, styled after The Empire Strikes Back’s original trailer. It offered glimpses of Chopper, Steve Blum’s Zeb Orrelios, and the return of the Mortis Gods subplot. New elements like a Dathomirian witch, massive machines, and the introduction of adorable Loth kittens—dubbed “Lothballs” by Dawson—added intrigue and charm.

Rory McCann was introduced as the new Baylan Skoll, taking over from the late Ray Stevenson. Director Dave Filoni confirmed a looming confrontation between Skoll and Ahsoka, as battles unfold across two galaxies and the series leans further into Star Wars' mystical side.

With familiar heroes, deepening mythology, and high anticipation from fans, Ahsoka Season 2 looks set to expand the Star Wars universe in bold and exciting directions.
