Martha Stewart took to Instagram to deliver a clever jab at Katy Perry and the Blue Origin 'astronauts' by posting a throwback video of her own experience in zero gravity.
The 83-year-old lifestyle mogul shared the footage, which showed her performing flips and push-ups while weightless during a 2006 Zero-G flight in Florida.
Captioning the post with “In case you spaced out,” Stewart reminded her 8.7 million social media followers of her 2006 adventure aboard a Boeing 727 aircraft, G-Force One, which provided a parabolic flight allowing her to experience weightlessness, similar to astronauts. She also aptly used Katy Perry's firework lyrics on her post while shes seen floating in the video makig it more hilarious. Stewart reflected on the experience, explaining that she was able to feel what astronauts experience in zero gravity, which is typically experienced through parabolic flights costing around $8,900.
This came just days after Katy Perry and other celebrities were aboard Blue Origin’s NS-31 mission, reaching the Kármán line 62 miles above Earth. Perry, who was part of an all-female crew that included NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe and media personality Gayle King, faced criticism for her 11-minute “joyride for the super-rich,” which some critics claimed had a significant carbon footprint.
Stewart’s Instagram post gained support from fans, many of whom praised her “expert trolling” in the comments. One user jokingly noted that they didn’t recall Stewart calling herself an astronaut. Others commented humorously on Stewart’s playfulness, with some even attributing the "Women Taking Up Space" movement to her.
