Miley Cyrus reportedly distances herself from Billy Ray amid family tensions and social media praise

Miley Cyrus has not spoken to Billy Ray in years, as public praise fuels speculation over deeper family rift

Miley Cyrus is reportedly keeping her distance from her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, as a longstanding family rift continues to grow. According to RadarOnline, the Grammy-winning singer has not spoken to her father in more than three years, and her omission of him from her Grammy acceptance speech earlier this year only deepened the divide.

While the father-daughter relationship has had ups and downs since the mid-2000s, it reportedly deteriorated further after Billy Ray’s 2020 divorce from Miley’s mother, Tish. Miley has since aligned herself with her mother, and sources say she remains cautious of Billy Ray’s intentions—particularly following his recent public praise, which some view as an attempt to reignite his career with her support.

Billy Ray, 63, recently praised Miley’s album Something Beautiful and Noah Cyrus’ latest single on social media. But according to RadarOnline, Miley sees the praise as calculated. “Miley learned a long time ago that Billy Ray’s love comes with strings attached,” a source claimed.

Billy Ray’s public image has taken hits in recent years—from his brief marriage to Firerose to his widely criticized performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration. Miley’s half-brother, Trace Cyrus, has also expressed concern, describing their father as “not healthy” and in need of help—further complicating the family dynamic.

Though Billy Ray continues to publicly praise both daughters, Miley appears unmoved. Insiders say she sees it as an attempt to win back favor amid his declining public image—and is keeping her distance.
