Marvel Studios has released the trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, introducing Marvel’s First Family to the MCU.

The new film features Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (Human Torch), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (The Thing). The cast also includes Ralph Ineson as Galactus, the planet-devouring villain, Julia Garner as the Silver Surfer, and supporting roles from Paul Walter Hauser, Natasha Lyonne, and John Malkovich.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps marks the official MCU debut of the iconic superhero team, following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox and its assets, which included the rights to the X-Men franchise. The movie, set in an alternate, retro-futuristic 1960s Manhattan, introduces the First Family in a world where they appear to be the only superheroes so far.

Unlike previous iterations of the team from 20th Century Fox, which featured Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, and Michael Chiklis in the 2000s, and the ill-received 2015 reboot with Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Jamie Bell, this film is poised to be the start of a new era for the Fantastic Four in the MCU.

The film will not feature other Marvel heroes unless multiverse elements come into play. The team’s previous appearances in the MCU include John Krasinski's brief role as Mister Fantastic in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Chris Evans’ return as the Human Torch in Deadpool & Wolverine, both of which were brief and met violent ends.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to bring Marvel’s First Family to the forefront of the MCU, with a fresh and unique take on their story on 25 July.
