Ben Affleck shared rare comments about his ex-wife, Jennifer Lopez, during the red carpet premiere of The Accountant 2 in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
The 52-year-old actor and director expressed his happiness about having their combined five children attend the event. Affleck has three children, Samuel, 13, Seraphina, 16, and Violet, 19, from his previous marriage to Jennifer Garner, while Lopez has twins, Emme and Max, 17, with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
Affleck praised Lopez for being a positive influence in his children’s lives, telling Entertainment Tonight, “Jennifer Lopez is spectacular, great to my kids, great ongoing relationship with them.” He emphasized that he has a strong, ongoing relationship with Lopez’s children as well, adding, “I love her kids. They’re wonderful. She’s an enormously important, tremendous person of a lot of integrity who I adore and am grateful to.”
Despite their recent divorce, Affleck made it clear that he and Lopez are on good terms. He said, “I don’t read the stuff online much,” referring to the negative rumors about their separation. Affleck also expressed his joy about having all the children together at the event, calling the relationships with them the “joy of my life.”
Affleck and Lopez, who married in July 2022, finalized their divorce in January 2025, just four months after their separation in August 2024. Lopez spoke about the split in an Interview Magazine piece, explaining that while it was a difficult experience, she had no regrets. Affleck also addressed the divorce in a recent GQ interview, acknowledging the challenges of navigating fame and their differing approaches to public life.
