Elon Musk is at the centre of a new legal controversy after influencer Ashley St. Clair revealed details of a paternity and custody dispute involving their son, born in February. According to St. Clair, DNA tests show a 99.9999% probability that Musk is the father, though he has not publicly confirmed it.
St. Clair alleges Musk, through adviser Jared Birchall, offered her $15 million and $100,000 per month to keep silent about his parentage until the child turns 21. She refused, citing the non-disclosure agreement’s lack of mutual terms, as it barred her from criticising Musk while imposing no such restrictions on him.
The pair reportedly met in 2023, and conceived the child on a New Year’s trip. Musk allegedly suggested naming the child Romulus and made requests about the birth, including a caesarean delivery and no circumcision—requests St. Clair did not accept.
St. Clair claims that, after she rejected the offer, Musk reduced child support payments and distanced himself. In March, she was seen selling her Tesla, citing financial strain. She told reporters Musk cut support by 60 percent following her legal filing.
Court documents allege Musk was minimally involved in the child’s life and requested secrecy throughout. The case has since been sealed, limiting St. Clair’s ability to speak publicly, though she continues to challenge Musk’s actions on social media.
The situation also casts light on Musk’s arrangements with other mothers of his children, including Shivon Zilis and musician Grimes. Musk currently has at least 14 known children, and reports suggest efforts to house his partners and children in one gated community.
