Actress Naeema Butt, who won hearts with her bold and intense portrayal of Rubab in the hit drama Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum, is opening up about the not-so-glamorous side of stardom.

In a refreshingly honest interview on Gup Shab hosted by Vasay Chaudhry, Naeema spoke about the superficial friendships that often dominate the entertainment industry and subtly called out her co-stars from Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum for playing nice on social media while allegedly acting differently in real life.

The actress, whose character became a breakout favorite in the show, revealed that much of the camaraderie audiences see between actors online isn’t as genuine as it seems.

“I have seen that people are just being fake friends for Instagram or at least that is what my experience was regarding the industry’s inner working,” she said candidly.

Butt thought the love she was receiving on social media from her co-actors was support and appreciation as someone who is still a new comer and has not worked in as many dramas as her peers, but ultimately she said she was wrong to naively assume such a thing.

While Naeema did not name names, her comments strongly hinted at tension with fellow cast members, adding fuel to already circulating fan speculation.

She claimed that during public events, some of her co-stars who appeared friendly in Instagram posts were actively trying to “push her off the stage”.

Her message was clear: don’t believe every “friendship goals” photo you see.

“A lot of things happened but I don't want to get into it,” Naeema said, choosing to keep details private while still addressing the issue.

Joining the conversation, Vasay Chaudhry  reassured Naeema that this behavior is unfortunately common, especially for newer faces in the industry.

He noted that this competitive energy and underlying rivalry doesn’t necessarily go away with time.

“This competitiveness lingers between co-actors and contemporaries even if you have been in the business for 10 to 15 years,” Vasay explained.

Despite the rocky off-screen dynamics, Naeema Butt continues to receive massive admiration from fans, particularly for her unapologetic screen presence as Rubab.

Her honesty in addressing industry culture has sparked an important conversation online, with fans applauding her transparency.

While the drama may have ended on-screen, the real-life plot behind the scenes just got a whole lot more interesting—and real.
