Fans are drawing parallels between Lil Nas X and Justin Bieber after the rapper revealed he was hospitalised for sudden facial paralysis—similar to the condition Bieber faced in 2022.
Bieber had gone public with his Ramsay Hunt Syndrome diagnosis at the time, a rare neurological disorder that caused full paralysis on one side of his face. He was forced to cancel part of his Justice World Tour and explained in a now-viral video that he physically couldn’t perform due to the facial immobility.
Now, Lil Nas X appears to be experiencing a comparable episode. The 26-year-old posted a video from his hospital bed showing he couldn’t move the right side of his face. “This is me doing a full smile right now,” he said, visibly surprised at the limited muscle control.
Speculation quickly spread that he might be suffering from Bell’s palsy—a condition with symptoms similar to Ramsay Hunt Syndrome—though no official diagnosis has been confirmed.
Lil Nas X took a lighthearted approach in follow-up Instagram Stories, telling fans: “Guys I am ok!! Stop being sad for me! Shake ur ass for me instead!” He also joked, “Imma look funny for a lil bit but that’s it.”
Celebrities like Taraji P. Henson and Ledisi offered messages of support, while fans recalled Bieber’s past ordeal as a reminder of how serious such conditions can be—even for healthy, young artists.
Though his condition appears temporary, Lil Nas X’s experience is highlighting how facial paralysis—like Bieber’s—can strike unexpectedly, making the industry and fans more aware of these lesser-known neurological disorders.
