In a step towards inclusive sporting opportunities, the Sindh government will organise a cricket match and tug-of-war competition exclusively for the transgender community this week in Sukkur.

According to the provincial Department of Sports, a total of 35 transgender individuals from the Sukkur and Khairpur divisions are set to participate in the events.

The cricket match is scheduled for Friday evening at Sukkur Municipal Stadium, with the first ball set to be bowled under floodlights at 7 p.m.

Teams led by transgender players Saba Shah and Sawera Baloch will face off in the landmark fixture. On Saturday, the festivities will continue with a tug-of-war event featuring the same participants.

Sports Secretary Abdul Aleem Lashari confirmed that the athletes will be provided with uniforms and daily allowances as part of the initiative to encourage active participation from the transgender community in mainstream sports.

This marks a significant effort by the Sindh government to promote inclusion and diversity in sport, providing a competitive platform and recognition for transgender individuals often marginalised in traditional settings.
