A record has been set with the construction of 1,806 houses under the Punjab chef minister's Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar Programme along with the recovery of loans worth Rs92.4 million.
According to an official statement, more than 22,600 houses are in their final stages of completion under the scheme.
Over 25,500 families have been granted loans worth more than Rs27.43 billion for building their homes.
The second installment of the loans has been granted to more than 12,000 families and approval has been given for issuing 2000 additional loans.
The loans are being provided for the construction of houses covering one to five marla in the urban areas.
Loans are also being provided under the programme to owners of land ranging from one to 10 marla in villages.
The applications for the loans are being received online.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif stated regarding the progress of the housing programme, "In the past, many false promises were made with regard to building houses for citizens, but the leadership of PML-N accomplished this task successfully in a short time frame."
