
Professor Khurshid Ahmad, former deputy chief of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and a renowned Islamic economist, passed away in Leicester, United Kingdom, at the age of 93, the party's spokesperson confirmed on Sunday.
A prominent scholar and former senator, Ahmad was a close associate of JI founder Syed Abul A'la Maududi. Over the decades, he authored several books and was widely respected for his contributions to Islamic economics and socio-political thought.
"Professor Khurshid Ahmad was one of the pioneering thinkers of Islamic economics and an institution in himself," the party said in a statement.
