Four killed, two injured in ambush of vehicle
The men opened fire on a vehicle and killed four people, while two others were severely injured. The victims were residents of Chak 30GB in the Satyana area who were going to attend a wedding in their vehicle.
According to the complainant, Omar, a resident of the 70GB area, and other suspects opened fire on the vehicle, killing 32-year-old Aleem Shahid, 30-year-old Sanam Sultan and 23-year-old Sohaib Ali, while 42-year-old Muhammad Atiq, 25-year-old Abdus Salam and 43-year-old Saifur Rehman were injured.
They were shifted to a hospital in critical condition, where Abdus Salam succumbed to his injuries, while the condition of Atiq and Saifur Rehman was stated to be critical.
After receiving information about the incident, Jaranwala police reached the spot and shifted the bodies to a hospital for autopsy.
Local police officials said there was an old enmity between the groups of the attackers and the victims. The attackers had opened fire on the victims in revenge, they claimed.
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Zeeshan Asghar and CPO Sahibzada Bilal Umar sought a detailed report on the incident from the Jaranwala SP. They also ordered the formation of teams to arrest the attackers.
In another incident, a woman and a man were shot dead for refusing to settle a murder case.
According to the police, Azhar Hameed, a resident of Dholnawal and Pakistan Post employee, lodged a case, stating that 32-year-old Mazhar Hameed was sleeping outside his house when Iftikhar alias Buta, who was involved in the earlier murder, and his accomplices on motorcycles shot him.
The suspects then went to the nearby home of Saeed and shot and killed his daughter Iqra Aslam before fleeing.
The suspect Iftikhar was already wanted suspect in a murder case registered at Chak Jhumra police station.
The complainant stated that he and his accomplices that shot dead Mazhar and Iqra because they had refused reconciliation in the case. Chak Jhumra police handed over the bodies to the heirs after postmortem.
