ISLAMABAD:

A man in Pind Sangrial, located in the jurisdiction of Golra police station, reportedly set fire to a house and dowry items provided by his wife's parents, leaving parts of the home destroyed and his wife severely injured.

Despite an FIR being registered, the suspect has not yet been arrested.

The alleged victim, Nosheen Malik—a mother of four and resident of Pind Sangrial—filed a complaint at Golra police station, stating that her husband, Akram, set fire to the house her parents had gifted her at around 4am on April 8.

The blaze completely destroyed the belongings and caused the collapse of two rooms, damaging the structure severely, she said.

Nosheen further revealed that this was not the first instance of abuse. Akram had previously assaulted her on multiple occasions, including a violent episode on March 29 that left her hand badly injured and required multiple stitches, she told the police.

She also said Akram had also threatened to kill her and burn her alive, prompting neighbours to take her to her parents' home for safety.

Expressing fear for her life, Nosheen appealed to the prime minister, interior minister, and the inspector general of Islamabad for justice and protection.
