RAWALPINDI:

Rawalpindi Division Commissioner Aamir Khattak on Saturday paid a surprise visit to the district education office to find the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the District Education Authority (DHA), Amanullah Khan, absent from duty without approved leave. The Commissioner took serious notice of the situation and issued a show-cause notice to the CEO.

Khattak arrived unannounced at the education department office and discovered that not only was the head of the department missing without any formal leave request or attendance record, but a large portion of the staff was also absent.

The sudden inspection caused panic within the office. More than half of the officers and employees from various departments of the education office were found to be missing. Several staff members had marked their attendance in the morning and then left the office.

Expressing strong displeasure over the CEO's absence, the Commissioner issued a show-cause notice, ordering him to submit a written explanation within two days. The notice stated that if a satisfactory response is not received within the stipulated time, strict departmental action would follow.

The notice also pointed out additional administrative lapses observed during the visit, including poor cleanliness within the office and the absence of a biometric attendance system, despite repeated instructions given during Divisional Coordination Committee (DCC) meetings.

The show-cause notice was issued through the Assistant Commissioner (General).
