A four-year-old child was crushed to death by a water tanker near Abidabad Ground in Baldia Town on Saturday. The driver fled the scene with the vehicle immediately after the incident.
According to police, the child, identified as Affan, was playing in the ground when the tanker ran him over. His body was initially taken to a nearby private hospital, where his death was confirmed. It was then transferred to Civil Hospital via an Edhi ambulance for medico-legal formalities.
Affan's uncle, Abdul Qadir Khan, told reporters that the child was on school vacation and playing with other children in the area when the accident occurred.
He added that Affan was the second of three siblings and that his father is currently working in Dubai.
Khan also expressed deep frustration over the growing presence of water tankers in the area, claiming that the operators have taken over the playground, making it dangerous for children.
"The playground has become a parking lot-our children are no longer safe," he said. He appealed to the authorities to take immediate action and demanded the arrest of the responsible driver.
Following the post-mortem and legal procedures at Civil Hospital, police handed over Affan's body to his grieving family.
