Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani was unanimously elected on Friday chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference (ISC) during its inaugural session in Seoul, South Korea, according to a message received here.
The conference was being attended by 45 parliamentary leaders from across the world. In his opening remarks, Gilani expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the international community for electing him the ISC chair and presented a clear vision for promoting cooperation, prosperity, and shared values at the global level.
"There is a need for developing closer ties between parliamentary institutions to address global challenges," Gilani told the delegates. "The ISC forum will pave the way for global harmony, shared prosperity and peace," he added.
