A female jail warden, Mehwish Jarwar, was found dead in her residential quarters at the Mirpurkhas prison on Wednesday. Her body was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan. The city police have detained her husband, Gul Muhammad Jarwar, for questioning under suspicion.
The SHO of the Women's Police Station, Moomal Laghari, sent her body to the civil hospital for a post-mortem examination. According to SHO Satellite Town Police Station Ghazi Khan Rajar, a complaint was filed regarding an ongoing conflict between the couple, who also have a daughter. As of evening, an FIR for the incident had not yet been registered.
The woman's mother spoke to the media, claiming her daughter's post-mortem was delayed by at least six hours. She alleged that her daughter's husband was unemployed and had been blackmailing her for money. She also mentioned that a police constable had been harassing her daughter.
