In an interview with the UK's commercial radio Heart, Ed Sheeran revealed that he has a collaboration in store with Arijit Singh for his next album. "I worked a lot with this Indian singer, Arijit Singh, who is really good and really wonderful," he said.

Elaborating on his experience meeting and working with the playback singer, Ed added, "He basically lives in the middle of nowhere in India. It is like a three-hour flight and five-and-a-half-hour drive. I was in India with my dad. He (Arijit) was like, 'If you want the vocals, you would have to come to me.'"

Fans in the comments section were quick to express that they couldn't wait for the collaboration to see the light. "My prayers paid off. I was praying for a collaboration between Arijit and Ed, and it's happening. Let's go! I'm excited now," a user wrote. "Two of the greatest artists are coming together. I'm so fortunate to be a part of this," another said.

As per Hindustan Times, Ed visited Arijit while he was in India for The Mathematics Tour in February. The two singers went on a scooter joyride in Arijit's hometown in West Bengal, where they were sighted by local residents.

"It was like a pilgrimage with my dad. We travelled for almost an entire day to his (Arijit's) village and then he drove us around on mopeds, around his village. It was a really fun day," Ed said in the interview.

In October last year, the English singer's YouTube channel uploaded a video showing the two rehearsing for their September performance at London's O2 Arena. Backstage and onstage, the duo crooned the lyrics to Ed's hit song, Perfect.

"Rehearsing Perfect with Arijit Singh," Ed wrote on Instagram, sharing a snippet from the full video. "I heard Tum Hi Ho when I was in India this year and fell in love with him as an artist. Such an honour joining him on stage last month."

Fans gushed over the close-knit performance in the comments section, praising Arijit's versatility and requesting Ed to try out Tum Hi Ho.

The Shape of You singer has a flair for bonding with Indian singers. In September, he also made an appearance at Diljit Dosanjh's concert during the Birmingham leg of Dil-Luminati Tour. "Returning the favour to my brother, Diljit Dosanjh, tonight in Birmingham. What an amazing atmosphere. Thanks for having me!" Ed wrote on Instagram.

The English singer's caption was a callback to his Mumbai concert, where he invited Dosanjh to perform onstage with him, in March last year.
