ISLAMABAD:

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has recommended the federal government to remove the chief executive officer of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) immediately over poor performance.

The power-sector regulator took serious notice of the below-par performance of Iesco CEO Naeem Jan at a public hearing. Member (Technical) Rafique Ahmad Shaikh made the recommendation for removing the CEO.

He was presiding over the public hearing on the adjustment request for indexation of multi-year tariff (MYT) components for financial year 2025-26 as well as other adjustments in Iesco's end-consumer tariffs.

He pointed out that he faced constraints to conducting the hearing individually and requested the authority for a rehearing of the MYT adjustment. He also asked the company to present its complete business case.
