US support for South Punjab initiatives affirmed

United States Consul General Kristin K Hawkins has expressed US government's interest in supporting key sectors in South Punjab, including agriculture, information technology and women's empowerment.

During a visit by the diplomat to the South Punjab Secretariat, Additional Chief Secretary Fuad Hashim Rabbani highlighted the region's strategic location and economic potential, noting that despite rich natural resources, poverty remains a significant challenge.

He suggested US support for training youth in IT and artificial intelligence to boost employment and drive innovation.

The consul general was also briefed on the 'Zero out-of-school children' initiative.
