The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has introduced a new method for collecting sales tax on sugar, with an official notification issued for its implementation.

According to the notification, sugar prices will be reviewed every 15 days to determine the applicable tax rate.

The FBR stated that the sales tax will be calculated based on a sugar price set Rs16 per kilogram lower than the price listed in the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics report.

The notification clarified that the ex-mill price for sugar will be determined by subtracting Rs16 per kilogram from the price published on the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics website, and the sales tax will be collected accordingly.
