A complete performance from Bangladesh women saw them crush Pakistan A by 167 runs in their ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier warm-up match at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday.

Opting to bat first, Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana led from the front with a 72-ball 70, striking 10 boundaries and a six. Her third-wicket partnership of 109 with opener Farzana Haque (50 off 85) formed the backbone of the visitors’ innings.

Despite a middle-order collapse that saw them slip to 210 for 9, tailender Jannatul Ferdus played a game-changing cameo, remaining unbeaten on 46 from just 34 balls to lift the side to 276 all out in 49.4 overs.

Pakistan A bowlers Umm-e-Hani and Waheeda Akhtar claimed three wickets apiece, with Tania Saeed adding two more to her name.

In reply, Pakistan A struggled from the outset and were bowled out for just 109 in 39.1 overs. Hani top-scored with an unbeaten 26, while Eyman Fatima was the only other batter to reach double digits.

Bangladesh’s bowling unit delivered a clinical display, with Fahima Khatun, Marufa Akter and Rabeya taking two wickets each. Fariha Islam Trisna and Sumona added one scalp each to round off a dominant showing.

Pakistan A will now regroup ahead of the tournament opener against Ireland at Gaddafi Stadium on April 9. The same day, West Indies face Scotland at LCCA.

The top two teams from the qualifiers will earn their place at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, joining Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and hosts India.
