Mushfiqur Rahim has returned to Bangladesh’s Test squad for the upcoming two-match home series against Zimbabwe, as confirmed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
Full-time captain Najmul Hossain Shanto also returns after missing the previous Test assignment. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Monday announced a 15-member squad for the first Test against Zimbabwe, scheduled from 20 to 24 April in Sylhet.
The series marks the return of senior wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim, who was not part of the recent ICC World Test Championship series against the West Indies.
Mushfiqur, a seasoned campaigner with 94 Test caps, brings significant experience back into the line-up. He has accumulated 6007 runs at an average of 37.8, including 11 centuries and 27 half-centuries.
Najmul Hossain Shanto, who missed the West Indies series, resumes his duties as captain. The squad also sees the inclusion of 22-year-old pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who has earned his maiden Test call-up.
Sakib has already represented Bangladesh in 10 ODIs and 22 T20Is, taking 37 wickets in total across formats. Meanwhile, fast bowler Taskin Ahmed has been ruled out due to a left Achilles tendon injury, the BCB confirmed.
Rahim, former Bangladesh white-ball skipper, announced his retirement early last month from ODI format. His decision followed Bangladesh's group-stage exit from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Bangladesh will also play the second Test from 28 April to 2 May at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
