Karachi Kings pacer Hasan Ali on Monday said quality cricket in the upcoming HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 could help bring disappointed fans back to stadiums after the national side's recent poor performances.

Speaking at a press conference, Hasan acknowledged widespread discontent among supporters following Pakistan’s underwhelming outings in recent months.

The national men’s team failed to win the home ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, missed qualification for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, and struggled in a recent white-ball series against New Zealand.

“The national side’s underperformance affects overall cricket morale,” Hasan said. “We need to play quality cricket to bring disappointed fans back to the stadiums.”

The right-arm seamer expressed hope that HBL PSL 10, set to begin on 11 April, would reignite public interest and serve as a platform for both emerging and senior players.

“This platform plays a crucial role in grooming young talent. For senior players too, PSL performances can pave the way back into the Pakistan team,” he added.

Hasan, representing Karachi Kings for a second time, discussed the franchise’s preparations for the season.

When asked if Karachi Kings were planning to do something different in order to bring disenfranchised fans back to stadiums, Ali said that they would play 'quality cricket.'

"Karachi Kings, as a team, we need to get good results. We want to play a brand of cricket which attracts Karachi fans and connects the crowd with Karachi Kings."

He praised the appointments of former England all-rounder Ravi Bopara as head coach and ex-Australia fast bowler Shaun Tait as assistant and bowling coach.

“Many new things are going to happen and this time our full focus is on winning the title,” Hasan said. “Ravi Bopara has a lot of experience, which will be beneficial for us. My experience with Shaun Tait has been good as well.”

He also spoke about his own goals for the tournament, noting his desire to return to the national team.

“I performed well last year and I am aiming to perform well individually so I can return to the Pakistan team,” he said.

Hasan reaffirmed the significance of the PSL, now in its 10th edition, and called on all franchises to deliver their best performances to make the milestone season a success.
