ABC has officially expanded American Idol’s 2025 schedule, announcing that new episodes will now air on both Sunday and Monday nights as Season 23 continues.

The change, which started March 31, brings added excitement during the fan-favorite Hollywood Week segment.

The major update includes the debut of a new "Head-to-Head" round, where 42 remaining contestants will face off directly to earn a spot in the Top 24. This new competitive twist marks a significant shift in American Idol’s format, designed to heighten tension and viewer engagement.

Adding to the buzz is the introduction of American Idol’s first-ever "Artist in Residence," with country-rap star Jelly Roll taking the role. He’ll provide personal mentorship to the contestants as they prepare for their high-stakes performances during this critical round.

With this new two-night format and a fresh round added to the competition, American Idol continues evolving to keep audiences captivated. Episodes air Sundays and Mondays at 8/7c on ABC, with streaming available on Hulu.
