ITV has unveiled its newest reality quiz show Genius Game, hosted by renowned actor David Tennant.
Set to premiere on ITV1 and ITVX on April 30, 2025, the eight-part series promises a unique blend of strategic gameplay, psychological manipulation, and social intelligence.
Based on a hit Korean format, Genius Game positions Tennant as “The Creator,” a mysterious and cerebral figure guiding contestants through a series of never-before-seen challenges. Players won’t just need intellectual sharpness — they’ll also rely on their social IQ to deceive, collude, and outwit their opponents in the quest for a cash prize.
The format is being described as ITV’s “groundbreaking new strategy-based reality TV show,” and has already drawn comparisons to BBC’s The Traitors with its competitive, high-stakes gameplay. A teaser trailer featuring Tennant navigating a futuristic game set has also sparked chatter, with fans likening the show's design to the Doctor Who TARDIS interior.
Katie Rawcliffe, ITV’s Head of Entertainment, praised the new series, saying, “David Tennant is the perfect ringmaster to preside over this battle of brainpower, teamwork and deception.”
Episodes are expected to air weekly on Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout May. The buzz has already begun, with fans and celebrities like The Chase’s Mark Labbett reacting to the teaser with enthusiasm and curiosity.
With a unique format and a beloved host at the helm, Genius Game is set to challenge the minds — and morals — of both contestants and viewers alike.
