Black double cabin SUV, used by agencies in forced disappearances, are one of the most dreaded vehicles in the country.
However on Monday, the black dala as it is locally called, which comes to make the people disappear was made to disappear by intrepid thieves.
Unidentified suspects stole a Special Security Unit (SSU) government black-coloured vehicle from the Karsaz road in District East and fled the scene. Following the incident, police immediately launched an investigation. The Sharae Faisal police have registered a case of the stolen government vehicle with a registration number plate and handed the matter over to the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC). However, the vehicle has yet to be traced, and a red alert regarding the stolen vehicle has gone viral on social media.
The complainant, Mohammad Naeem, who works as an auto mechanic at the SSU Hassan Square Headquarters, stated that on April 6, he parked the black-coloured 2014 model Vigo (SP-E 027) at the Maritime Museum at 7:50pm. When he returned around 9:30pm, the vehicle was missing.
SHO Sharae Faisal Sub-Inspector Faisal Gul said that a case was registered in the name of the SSU official, and the AVLC Gulistan e Johar Division has been tasked with finding the vehicle.
SHO AVLC Akram Arain confirmed that the stolen vehicle is actively being searched for, and police teams are working on the case. To trace the culprits, assistance is being sought from the footage of CCTV cameras. Police sources have revealed that after the vehicle was stolen, all district police units were alerted, and there is suspicion that the stolen vehicle could be linked to a larger issue. However, despite ongoing efforts, the AVLC team has not yet located the stolen vehicle.
