OG Anunoby lit up Madison Square Garden with 32 points as the New York Knicks defeated the Phoenix Suns 112–98 on Sunday night, and fans believe Olympic champion Sunisa Lee's presence courtside was the spark behind the show.
OG Anunoby put on a performance for the ages in the Knicks’ Sunday night win, scoring 32 points along with six rebounds and three assists to help lift New York over Phoenix.
While it marked his 10th consecutive game with 20+ points, this outing had extra buzz — Olympic gold medallist Sunisa Lee was courtside at Madison Square Garden, and fans online were quick to connect her presence to OG’s hot hand.
The 112–98 victory saw Anunoby shoot with precision and confidence, turning heads with transition buckets, mid-range pull-ups, and big defensive stops. The Knicks’ official social media accounts joined the fun, posting clips of Suni Lee and reacting to the electric energy in the arena.
“OG saw Suni Lee and turned into 2019 Kawhi,” one fan posted on X. Another added, “Sign her to a multi-year courtside deal — whatever it takes.”
Lee, attending her second Knicks game, once again seemed to coincide with a standout OG performance. The gymnast smiled for cameras during a timeout, just as Anunoby began torching the Suns defense late in the second quarter.
Jalen Brunson, returning from an ankle injury, added 15 points and six assists in his return, but the spotlight was firmly on Anunoby — both on the court and in the memes that followed.
Social media exploded with comments celebrating the “Suni Effect,” with fans calling Lee the Knicks' unofficial sixth man. “OG plays different when Suni’s in the building,” one post read.
This isn’t Anunoby’s first viral moment at MSG either — in November, he nearly collided with actress Anne Hathaway courtside. Now, with Lee in attendance, he’s turned into the Knicks’ most electric scorer down the stretch.
New York now sits at 50–28, eyeing the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference. If Anunoby continues this pace — and if Suni Lee stays in her courtside seat — the Knicks may have a unique kind of playoff magic brewing.
“Had so much fun,” Lee said as she left MSG. Knicks fans are hoping she had enough fun to keep coming back.
