Pakistani security forces killed nine militants in an intelligence-based operation in the Takwara area of Dera Ismail Khan late Sunday night, the military's media wing said on Monday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), among those killed were several terrorists, including Shireen, a high-value target and militant ring leader, who was wanted for his involvement in multiple terrorist attacks.

Shireen had also been involved in the targeted killing of civilians and was responsible for the martyrdom of Captain Hasnain Akhtar.

The military said troops launched the raid based on confirmed intelligence regarding the presence of militants in the area. A fierce exchange of fire followed, in which the militants were “sent to hell,” the statement added.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the site.

Sanitisation operations are ongoing in the surrounding areas to ensure no other militants remain, the ISPR said, reaffirming Pakistan’s resolve to eliminate terrorism from its soil.

Last week, the security forces killed six terrorists in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Kalat district of Balochistan.

The military's media affairs wing said the security forces conducted an IBO in Kalat, Balochistan on the reported presence of terrorists.

"During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged the terrorists' location and after an intense fire exchange, six terrorists were successfully neutralised," the ISPR statement said.

It noted that the slain terrorists remained actively involved in "recent terrorist activities" in the area against the law enforcement agencies as well as the innocent civilians.
