Two held for honour killing of woman, toddler

Search operations are ongoing in the area to apprehend other suspects involved in the case.

BALAKOT:

Saddar Police arrested on Sunday two people who had murdered a woman and her 16-month-old daughter for honour in the Jaba area of Mansehra on Friday.

The victim, who had married a man of her choice, was identified as R and her daughter Ayeza. Following the gruesome incident, a large number of social media users raised their voices in support of the victims, demanding justice and strict action against those involved. The outcry prompted senior police officials to take notice.

According to police sources, Hazara DIG Nasir Mehmood Satti took immediate notice of the incident and directed Mansehra DPO Shafiullah Gandapur to take prompt action.

Acting on these instructions, the DPO formed a special investigation team comprising senior officers to probe the matter. The team used modern technical means and conducted round-the-clock search operations, which led to the arrest of two key suspects—Wasi Shah and Abdul Razzaq Shah, both residents of Jaba.

Search operations are ongoing in the area to apprehend other suspects involved in the case.

Efforts were made to contact the DPO for his official statement to determine who was responsible for handing over the victims' bodies to the suspects' side and whether any action has been taken against those involved in that decision.
