Fatal road accident in Jaranwala leaves eight dead

At least eight people were killed and eight others injured on Sunday in a traffic collision between a bus and a rickshaw on Lahore Road in Punjab’s Jaranwala area, Express News reported.

According to police, the deceased were travelling in a loader rickshaw, and all belonged to the same family. The victims included women, children, and men.

Emergency responders from Rescue 1122 arrived swiftly at the scene and transported the dead and injured to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Jaranwala and Allied Hospital in Faisalabad.

Regional Police Officer (RPO) Faisalabad Zeeshan Asghar took notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from City Police Officer (CPO) Sahibzada Bilal Umar. “All injured persons must be given proper medical care,” he said.

The RPO directed senior officers to visit the accident site and initiate a comprehensive investigation into the incident. “Ensuring safe travel for citizens is the police’s foremost responsibility,” he added.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the tragic accident and extended heartfelt condolences to the grieving families.

She also instructed authorities to provide the best possible medical treatment to the injured.
